The Lincoln Academy girls basketball team took the Mustangs for a wild and crazy ride on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the Eagles nest. The Lady Eagles avenged a loss at Mt.View earlier this season to improve their record to 10-7. Lincoln took the lead for good on a Mariam DeLisle 3-pointer at the first quarter buzzer, 9-7. The Eagles led 18-13 at the half and 38-26 at the end of three. Mt.View trailed by as many as 15 in the final quarter, before stampeding back to pull within eight. The Eagles held on to ride the Mustangs out of town with a 53-42 LA win.
Medomak 7th Boys Win Busline League Championship Medomak 42 - Camden-Rockport 27
The Medomak seventh grade boys won the Busline League Large School Division championship on Saturday, Feb. 3 with a 42-27 win over Camden-Rockport, at Oceanside in Rockland. The Riverhawks led 9-7 at the quarter. Camden scored the first four points of the second frame to take the lead. Medomak rallied to lead 18-15 at the half. The Riverhawks maintained the lead in the second half. Medomak put the game away in the fourth, sparked by Oliver Simmons, who had a basket, three rebounds, two steals and two assists in the period. Wesley Overlock and Jeridan Fullerton hit back to back three’s to seal the win. Scoring leaders for Medomak were Simmons with 11 points, Overlock 9 and Colin Godlash 7. Camden was led by Dario Ravelli 10, Victor Clayton 9.
Panthers Boys Dominate Erskine Medomak Valley 79 - Erskine Academy 31
Gabe Lash had 24 points and 14 rebounds and Kory Donlin had 18 points to lead the Medomak Valley boys to a 79-31 win over Erskine on Friday, Feb. 2 in South China. The Panthers improved to 14-3 on the season. Kristian Schumann had 5 assists and Luke Cheesman had 6 steals to lead the Panthers in those categories.
Lincoln Girls Pull Away from Leavitt Eagles win 55-48 on the road
The Lincoln Academy girls basketball team improved their playoff position with a 55-48 win over Leavitt on Friday, Feb. 2 in Turner. Mariam Delisle scored 24 points to lead the Eagles, and Olivia Ball chipped in 9. The Eagles improved to 9-7 on the season and occupy 9th place in the Class B South Heal Point standings.
Medomak Girls Beat Erskine Medomak 39 - Erskine 25
The Medomak Valley girls basketball team defeated Erskine Academy 39-25 in a helter skelter game in the Panthers den on Friday, Feb. 2. The Eagles led early, 5-2, before Medomak scored the final five points of the quarter to take the lead for good. The Panthers forced 27 Eagle turnovers in the win, led by Kytana Williamson with nine steals.
Three Panthers scored in double figures in the win, including Maya Cannon with 12, Williamson 11, and Sara Nelson 10. Erskine was led by Kelsie Dunn with 13.
Hagar Surpasses 1,000 Point Milestone for Eagles Eagles sting hornets 77-28
Gabe Hagar scored his 1,000th career point on a short jump shot in the Eagles’ 77-28 win over Leavitt on Friday, Feb. 2 in the Eagles nest. The senior scored 22 points in the game to lift the Eagles to a 13-3 record as they approach the Class B South playoffs. A ceremony was held by Lincoln Academy to recognize the achievement, and the Leavitt team showed good sportsmanship by congratulating Hagar, too.
Eagles Dig Their Claws Into the Lions Lincoln Academy 85 - Belfast 33
The Lincoln Academy boys basketball team built off the momentum they earned in an historic win over Medomak Valley last weekend by dominating Belfast 85-33 on Thursday, Feb. 1 in the Eagles nest. Gabe Hagar scored 21 points to drive closer to the 1,000 point milestone he’s approaching as the Eagles (12-3) head nearer to playoff time playing an up-tempo style of basketball.
After raining shots into the basket against the Lions, Hagar now has 989 points in his career for the Eagles. Andrew Haas led the Lions with 11 points. The Lions are winless (0-16) on the season. The Eagles defense had 34 steals in the game, led by Lucas Houghton with 8 as the Eagles controlled the ball in the lopsided match.
Mustangs Ride Out of Boothbay With a Win Monmouth 48 - Boothbay 39
Monmouth rallied in the final 10 minutes to defeat Boothbay girls basketball 48-39 on Wednesday, Jan. 31 in the Seahawks nest. Boothbay led 11-9 at the quarter, and trailed 22-17 at the half. The Seahawks scored the first 11 points of the third quarter to build a six point lead. The Mustangs scored the final 11 (three 3-pointers) to take the lead for good. Boothbay pulled within two midway through the fourth, but the Mustangs ended the game with a 9-2 run. Two Boothbay starters fouled out in the final period. Scoring leaders for Boothbay were Bella Orr with 14 and Tatum French 11. Leading Monmouth were Hailey DeHan and Kaitlyn Frost with 16 each.

Lincoln Academy Beats Medomak Valley For First Time in a Decade Defense Was Key in Gritty 54-42 Victory
The Lincoln Academy boys basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Medomak Valley 54-42 on Tuesday, Jan. 30 in the Panthers’ den. It’s the first time the Eagles have defeated Medomak Valley since a 48-46 victory on Jan. 17, 2014.
Lady Panthers Rob Eagles Nest Medomak Valley 54 - LIncoln Academy 29
The Medomak Valley girls basketball team robbed the Eagles nest for a 54-29 win over Lincoln Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 30. The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 16-6 first quarter lead. Lincoln cut the lead to seven in the second frame, but it was as close as they would get. Medomak led 30-18 at the end of half. The Panthers’ tough defense held LA to a single basket in the third to put the game out of reach.
Medomak was led by Kytana Williamson with 20 points (9 steals). Audrey Jackson 10 and Sara Nelson 8. Lincoln was led by Mariam DeLisle with 7 (9 rebounds), Olivia Ball 6 and Lillian Labrie 5.
Forest Hills Beats Wolverines 65-35
The Forest Hills boys basketball team played an aggressive style of hoops while defeating the Wolverines 65-35 on Monday, Jan. 29 in Wiscasset. Spencer Pinkham and Landin Shirey led the Wolverines (8-8) with ten points apiece. Cooper Daigle scored 24 points to lead the Tigers, who improved to 11-5 on the season.
Lincoln Academy Girls Lose 38-35 at MCI
The Eagles’ girls basketball team lost to MCI 38-35 on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Pittsfield. It was a close game all the way but the Eagles could never quite extend and hold a lead in the game. Lincoln Academy trailed 16-15 at the end of the half, and then rallied for a 26-25 lead heading into the final quarter in the low scoring game. Mariam DeLisle scored 22 points to lead Lincoln Academy. Kayleigh Dunton tallied 14 to lead the MCI offense.
Medomak Valley Girls Lose to Oceanside in 7th Annual Paws for the Cause Pink Out Game
The Panthers girls pounced to an early 21-18 lead before it slipped away in a 49-40 loss to undefeated Oceanside on Saturday, Jan. 27 in the Panthers den.
The seventh annual Paws for the Cause pink out game was the opener of a boys and girls doubleheader against rival Oceanside. Players wore pink uniforms and many fans dressed in pink to pay homage to people in their lives affected by cancer. Proceeds from the game and associated fundraiser will benefit Lincoln Health’s breast care program.
Sara Nelson and Kytana Williamson led the Panthers (11-4) with 13 points apiece, and Bailey Breen was the top scorer for Oceanside (14-0) with 14.
