Karen Higgins, of Lincoln Academy, placed second in the Class B South championship on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Twin Brook Recreation Area in Cumberland. The Lincoln girls placed sixth out of nine teams with a score of 141 points to earn the final qualification spot for the Class B state championship meet on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Cony High School in Augusta. Owen Card was the top Eagle on the boys team, placing fourth in 16:58.19 to help the LA boys place third out of the 12 schools that registered scores.

The Medomak football team crushed Oceanside 50-14 on Friday, Oct. 17 under the lights in Waldoboro. Sophomore running back Jaydiin Ruiz was virtually unstoppable as he set single-game Medomak offensive records for yards gained in a game (339), touchdowns scored (six), and points scored (42).

With the win over the Bulldogs, Boothbay claimed the No. 1 seed in Class C South and earned a spot in the Mountain Valley Conference championship game on Friday, Oct. 24 in Boothbay.

The Tour De Gourd 5K’s debut in the slate of Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta offerings proved to be a success, drawing 166 runners and walkers ages 8-71 to the Twin Villages on Monday, Oct. 13. Corey Fehnel, of New Harbor, won the inaugural running of the race with a time of 18:20.

The Lincoln Academy golf team finished ninth and Medomak Valley team came in 14th at the Class B state championship tournament on Friday, Oct. 10 at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro. Panther Joseph Wilcox had the top finish for the Lincoln County schools, carding a score of 13-over par 85 to tie for 11th place with five other golfers.

A local adult tennis team has been busy preparing to compete in the U.S. Tennis Association national championship that will take place Friday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 9 in Surprise, Ariz. To help defray the high cost of the journey to the tournament out west, the CLC YMCA is hosting a triples tournament fundraiser on behalf of the team on Friday, Oct. 17 from 5:30-7 p.m.
