Karen Higgins, of Lincoln Academy, placed second in the Class B South championship on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Twin Brook Recreation Area in Cumberland. The Lincoln girls placed sixth out of nine teams with a score of 141 points to earn the final qualification spot for the Class B state championship meet on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Cony High School in Augusta. Owen Card was the top Eagle on the boys team, placing fourth in 16:58.19 to help the LA boys place third out of the 12 schools that registered scores.

The Medomak football team crushed Oceanside 50-14 on Friday, Oct. 17 under the lights in Waldoboro. Sophomore running back Jaydiin Ruiz was virtually unstoppable as he set single-game Medomak offensive records for yards gained in a game (339), touchdowns scored (six), and points scored (42).

The Medomak Valley girls volleyball team lost to Camden Hills 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 16 in Waldoboro in the Panthers’ season finale.

The Wiscasset girls volleyball team beat Westbrook 3-1 before a large crowd on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Wiscasset Community Center during homecoming weekend. After the match was tied 1-1, the Wolverines persevered to win the key third set and then won the fourth set to clinch victory.

The Boothbay field hockey team shut out Hall-Dale 5-0 on Friday, Oct. 17 in Farmingdale. The lopsided win avenged the only loss of the season for the Seahawks, a 1-0 battle that took place Sept. 15. With the win over the Bulldogs, Boothbay claimed the No. 1 seed in Class C South and earned a spot in the Mountain Valley Conference championship game on Friday, Oct. 24 in Boothbay.

The Lincoln Academy girls soccer team beat Morse 2-0 in the final game of the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Newcastle.

The Wiscasset girls soccer team beat Valley 1-0 on Saturday, Oct. 11 in Wiscasset. Jessie Rhinebolt scored the only goal of the game.

The Tour De Gourd 5K’s debut in the slate of Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta offerings proved to be a success, drawing 166 runners and walkers ages 8-71 to the Twin Villages on Monday, Oct. 13. Corey Fehnel, of New Harbor, won the inaugural running of the race with a time of 18:20.

The Medomak Valley volleyball team was shut out by Gardiner 3-0 in a Class C showdown on Tuesday, Oct. 14 in Gardiner. The Panthers beat Brunswick 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 10 in Brunswick.

The Lincoln Academy field hockey team lost to Lawrence 3 1 on Friday, Oct. 10 in Newcastle. Teagan Bryce scored the only goal for the Eagles on a penalty corner in the first half.

The Medomak Valley boys soccer team defeated Morse 2-1 on Monday, Oct. 13 in Bath, avenging a loss to the Shipbuilders in Waldoboro four days prior. The Panthers also coasted to a 5-2 win at Gardiner on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The Lincoln Academy golf team finished ninth and Medomak Valley team came in 14th at the Class B state championship tournament on Friday, Oct. 10 at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro. Panther Joseph Wilcox had the top finish for the Lincoln County schools, carding a score of 13-over par 85 to tie for 11th place with five other golfers.

A local adult tennis team has been busy preparing to compete in the U.S. Tennis Association national championship that will take place Friday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 9 in Surprise, Ariz. To help defray the high cost of the journey to the tournament out west, the CLC YMCA is hosting a triples tournament fundraiser on behalf of the team on Friday, Oct. 17 from 5:30-7 p.m.
