Mark Herbert Hewson was born in Natick, Mass. on Oct. 4, 1959. He spent his early years on Parkman Street in a white colonial with a red door. In 1973, he moved with his parents to the family farm on East Pond Road in Jefferson.

On March 6, 2025, the world lost a charismatic legend, Hunter D. Peaslee Sr. Born on June 22, 1963 in Augusta, to Forest and Delia (Smith) Peaslee, Hunter embraced life with a charm and a wit that was truly larger than life. Known to his friends and family as “The man, the myth, the legend,” Hunter was a man who was famously late to family gatherings, not just because he was an ardent tinkerer, but because he was always busy making everyone smile. His love for his family, animals, and storytelling was only matched by his knack for turning the tables on you over a coin toss lunch bet, where, “Heads, I win, tails, you lose” became his classic catchphrase.

David A. Benner Jr., 71, of Nobleboro, passed away at his home on the afternoon of April 30, 2025. Born in Waldoboro on June 11, 1953, he was the son of Dorothy (Grover) and David Benner Sr.

Leo F. Glidden, 97, died peacefully at his home on Monday, April 28, 2025 with his loving family by his side.

Sharon E. Thompson, “Bear,” 68, of New Harbor, passed away on the morning of May 5, 2025 at home with her family by her side. The daughter of Norman and Marilyn (Ducharme) Davis, she was born on March 4, 1957.

Patricia Lynne Poland, 78, of Walpole, passed away on the morning of May 4, 2025 at Chase Point in Damariscotta.

Leo W. Barter Jr., 53, of Boothbay, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2025, at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital in Damariscotta, surrounded by his loving family.

George M. Gregory, 90, of Topsham, formerly of Damariscotta and Barrington, R.I., died April 27, 2025 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick. George was born July 1, 1934 in Providence, R.I., where he grew up. He attended St. Dunstan’s Academy, The Choate School, and Brown University. George served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956.

Kenneth Edwin Winchenbach passed away on Feb. 13, 2025, at his home in Sedgwick, age 82, after an illness. Ken was happy to be home and surrounded by family.

Patricia Sally Drew Winchenbach passed away on Aug. 21, 2024, at her home in Sedgwick, age 81, due to Alzheimer’s disease. Sally was blessed to pass at home while surrounded by family. Sally left behind her husband, Kenneth Edwin Winchenbach, who later passed away in February 2025.

Phyllis Ruth Coggins, 79, of New Harbor, passed away on May 2, 2025 at Central Maine Medical Center from complications related to diabetes. Born on March 18, 1946 in Darby, Pa., she was the daughter of John and Frances (Hill) Coggins.

Edna Mary Montgomery, of Cushing, died on April 28, 2025 at Breakwater Commons in Rockland. Born on July 16, 1939 at the Knox Hospital in Rockland, she was the daughter of Siiri and John Matson, of Friendship. Edna had a twin brother, Elmer Matson, and an older brother, John Matson.
