Esther Anne Whitmore, beloved mother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, at the age of 88. She was born on July 15, 1935, in Topsham, to Chester Staples and Susie Johnson, and most recently resided in Durham.

Irene Gallant, 92, passed away on March 15, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Barbara Jean (Benner) Fossett, 89, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024, after a short period of declining health. She was born on Nov. 7, 1934, in Bristol, to Earle H. Benner and Lillian DeVoe Benner.

Elsa H. Seeger passed away March 14, 2024 with family by her side. She was born in Portland on Dec. 21, 1931.

Catherine Hyland Gregg, “Kitty,” was a hardworking, funny, faith-filled woman, who loved her friends and the opportunity to speak with them in equal measure. A native Washingtonian, Kitty was raised in the Petworth neighborhood on Third Street NW where she attended school at St. Gabriel’s. The family moved out of the city to Maryland, just over the District line, during Kitty’s teen years.

Corey J. Peters, age 47, formerly of Rockland, died suddenly March 17, 2024.

Richard D. Hayes, age 77, of Jefferson, died Monday, March 18, 2024 at the Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth following a long illness. Richard was born in Gardiner. He is a son of the late David J. and Celia (Jones) Hayes.

William “Bill” Edward Bausch, 79, of Damariscotta, passed away at the Harbor View Cottage in Newcastle, on the morning of March 14, 2024.

Carol S. Newbert, age 66, died peacefully at her home in Nobleboro after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Eileen Kleinkopf passed away on March 3, 2024, in Peabody, Mass., at the age of 87. She was born in New York on June 4, 1936. Eileen was a treasured wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, sister-in-law, cousin, and friend. She was known as an extrovert, feminist, networker, activist, team member, volunteer, and friend. She loved to help others. Eileen was an advocate for mental health.

Gilbert L. Crowell Jr., 73, of Jefferson, passed peacefully at the Maine Veterans’ Homes in Augusta. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on Dec. 9, 1950 to Gilbert and Nancy Crowell.
