The Jefferson Historical Society is preparing for its annual open house on Sat., Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon. The 2022 calendars showing people doing various jobs in Jefferson will be available for $10. Some other topics covered in the calendar will be Bonds Mill; Lakeview Orchards; Malcolm Peck’s Automotive, Marine and Plane business; the poultry industry; Fred Meserve’s Gulf gas station; Ice Harvesting in Jefferson and much more.

Norma Helen Ball passed away peacefully in her sleep July 23, 2021, at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. She was born at the doctor’s office on Jan. 8, 1941, in Damariscotta to Mellicent Edith Jones Ball and Joseph Edward Ball.

Merlin G. Smith, age 93, of Rockport, formerly of East Boothbay, died peacefully on July 17, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

Marcia Mercedes Howard Trentin Service Announcement

A memorial mass for Marcia Mercedes Howard Trentin, who passed away on Nov. 1, 2020, will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 14 at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle. She will be laid to rest in St. Patrick’s Cemetery following the service.

Richard Ripley

On Wednesday July 28, 2021, Richard Ripley, loving husband and father of one son, passed away at the age of 70. He had recently been diagnosed with metastasized brain cancer.

Michael P. Uminski, “Boston Mike,” of Waldoboro, born Jan. 29, 1956 in Dorchester, Mass., passed away July 24, 2021, at the age of 65, following a motorcycle accident.

Old Bristol Historical Society Annual Meeting

The Old Bristol Historical Society held its annual meeting on Sunday, July 25. During the meeting they nominated and unanimously elected two new board members. They are Dr. Warren Reiss and Augustans “Gussie” Stanislaw.
