Waldoboro Fitness Center Closes, Citing Impacts of State Restrictions
Resolutions Fitness Center, on Winslows Mills Road in Waldoboro, permanently closed Saturday, Oct. 24. Owners Leslie and Evelyn Crouse opened their gym in 2015, with 92 members inherited from the previous business. Over the past five years they had built the membership rolls to approximately 250. But the closure of fitness centers and gyms in response to the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged their business.

Glidden Street Halloween Plans
Oct. 31 is the best day of the year on Glidden Street. This neighborhood loves being a part of families’ Halloween traditions year after year. There are typically between 300-350 trick-or-treaters each year in addition to friends, parents, and grandparents walking up and down the street.
Historical Society to Highlight ‘Then…and Now’ Topics
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Newcastle Historical Society will not be sponsoring programs for the public this year. To continue to highlight people and events from Newcastle’s past, a “Then…and Now” column will be presented every two months by society members.

The Waldoborough Historical Society’s newest fundraiser publication, “You Know You Grew Up in Waldoboro When…A Collection of Stories,” edited by associate trustee Peter M. Robbins, is available for purchase. Robbins, who is the administrator for the Facebook page “You Know You Grew Up in Waldoboro,” will be outside of the Waldoboro Hannaford’s this weekend on Friday and Saturday from 5 – 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Saltwater Artists Gallery was gifted all of the late Caroline Howe’s art materials by her children. The materials are on sale at the gallery at 3056 Bristol Road in New Harbor, just 1/4mile before the Pemaquid Lighthouse.
