The Lincoln Academy girls tennis team overcame adversity to win the Class B state championship with a gutsy 3-2 victory over Old Town on Tuesday, June 11 at Bates College in Lewiston. The Eagles fell behind 2-0 in the hot sun before storming back to win all three singles matches and claim the crown.
Panthers Boys Tennis Nets Win Over Oceanside Medomak Valley 3 – Oceanside 2
The Panthers boys tennis team defeated Oceanside 3-2 on Wednesday, May 21 in Waldoboro. Medomak Valley upped their season record to 6-5, while Oceanside fell to 4-8. Kollin Donlin suffered the only defeat of the day for the Panthers, losing the first singles match 4-6, 6-4, 3-6 to Gilbert Thill. Michael Riley beat Braydon Fogg 6-1, 6-1 in second singles, and Gavin White won the third singles match by forfeit after his opponent David Geddis retired after trailing White 4-1 in the first set. Judd Gamage and Jayden Drost won the first doubles match 6-0, 6-3 over Oceanside’s Landon Carballo and Jordan Black. Medomak Valley forfeited the second doubles match due to lack of players.

Panthers Baseball Shuts Out Eagles Medomak Valley 1 - Lincoln Academy 0
The Medomak Valley baseball team beat Lincoln Academy 1-0 on Thursday, May 22, in a brutally cold and windy game in Waldoboro. Medomak starting pitcher Porter Gahagan struck out 12 Eagles in the win (3H, 1B). Blake Grady also pitched a great game, but took the loss on the mound for Lincoln Academy (1H, 6K, 1B).
After five scoreless innings, Gahagan helped his own cause at the plate with a single in the bottom of the sixth. Pinch runner Vishal Mellor replaced Gahagan on the base path, and scored on a throwing error to third base for the winning run. Blake Gamage hit two singles for Lincoln, and Owen Cotta one.
